Louis Roederer Collection 246 NV

For a glass of fizz that’s classically framed, with richness and finesse, reach for Roederer. It’s generous in fruit aromatics like mirabelle plum, with lemon meringue and baked pastry notes. There’s lovely density in the palate, with a fresh but nutty finish. What sets this apart from other Non Vintage Champagnes, is the high proportion of reserve wine. 55% of the blend comes from the warm 2020 vintage, and the rest comes their Solera-like system that perpetually blends older vintages, as well as reserve wines aged in oak. This is the 245th iteration of this non vintage cuvée.

Champagne as a region has been comparatively slow on the uptake of organic practices, so we’re thrilled to see this family owned Champagne house, as one of the bigger players, taking it on. They have half of their large vineyard holdings organically certified, with more on the way. You might know their top cuvée, Cristal, but we definitely suggest giving their Collection cuvée a go.
