La Petite Vanguard Grenache 2021

The folks behind this wine describe it as ‘bistro style’ red. And we agree, in the sense that it’s vibrant in fruit, approachable, but there's also savoury complexity, grip and a lovely chewy character to the tannin. It  comes from amazing Aussie terroir - Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. The hot, dry soils are basically sand, which is a challenging environment for vines. However, Grenache is a resilient, heat-loving variety that doesn’t just survive there, but thrives. 

Established in 2014, Vanguardist Wines is the creation of three friends with amazing experience throughout the wine industry. Alexandra Maurisset and Edouard Maurisset-Latour are based in France where they head up marketing and sales. New Zealander Michael Corbett is based in McLaren Vale South Australia where he takes control of the winemaking and viticulture. With the name Vanguardist, it's only right that Michael aims to push the boundaries, which he does in a sophisticated way. The wines are some of the most intriguing and exciting wines to come out of South Australia.

Vanguardist’s La Petite label aims to create classic and pure-fruited wines that faithfully represent region and vineyard, but with an extra layer of interest.
